Trail Ride Through Aspen

Back in October, Bryon and Kay went on a trail ride in northern Michigan. Kay and Bryon took all of the pictures (700+ photos!) and though long overdue, I thought I’d share a few from their trail ride over the next few days.

This one was taken by Kay while on horseback. The aspen stood regal and bare. I love the contrast of the grey bark to the colorful autumn foliage. What a view my 2 trail riders had that day! Wow!

Kay, Rhythm, and Lilacs

Last Saturday, Kay was at the barn all day helping Ann-Marie out. In Ann-Marie’s yard is this gorgeous lilac tree which is the perfect location for some great portraits like this one of Kayla on Rhythm. We have one in our back yard as well. When in bloom, the flowers radiate such a refreshing scent. I love to throw open the windows to allow the scent to waft into our home. Too bad the blooms don’t last long, though. I could breathe in lilac all year round.

Spring has Sprung!

We had 2 days of nice spring-like weather… last Thursday and Friday and then BAM! Typical of a Michigan spring, it started getting cold and rainy. Brrrrr… Then last night it turned to sleet and this:

Solid ice. Not snow but absolute solid ice. It has absolutely covered everything. Branches are hanging heavy with the weight and roads are slippery.

Oh and remember the photo of the boys’ haircuts? Not coming anytime soon as I can only take photos outside in nice natural sunlight. **sigh** Spring hurry up and come back! We miss you already!

Summer’s Wings

Butterflies never seem to frequent my flower garden, so I’ve never tried to capture one of these beautiful creatures on camera. I finally got my chance when we were up at The Traveling Trainer’s for Kayla’s horseback lesson. Middle of the day, bright sun, and my little point-n-shoot… not bad, huh?
