I know there are many ways to convert an image to a toned black-and-white image. I just love the toned images that result from Lilyblue’s actions but am unable to afford them at this time. Plus, they wouldn’t work in GIMP anyway.

So I experimented with toning images in GIMP. You can simply use the FX-Foundry’s EG Duotone script to convert the image to black-and-white, but I converted it to black and white first to have greater control over how I wanted it to look (using the green filter for example).

Every time I look at my Little Man, his piercing deep blue eyes penetrate to my very soul. His innocence, his laughter, his curiosity, even his seriousness…

I watch him grow and develop with a keen interest. It is only through each of my babies’ eyes as they explore their world that my eyes are opened to the little joys and pleasures that I take for granted everyday. With each new discovery he makes, my heart skips a beat as I learn to see the world through the eyes of a baby.

Rachel’s 3rd birthday party was at Gymboree Play & Music. Baby brother tagged along. The bright colors & moving toddlers kept his rapt attention for over an hour.

Another GIMP experiment in learning… This time of a photo of me holding my 2 month old daughter in May 28, 2005.

On The Pioneer Woman blog, she shares how to get that slightly colored, vintage look. Here’s my hand at it adapting the Photoshop tips she gives to GIMP.

I didn’t spend anytime on editing the faces or anything like that. (Maybe I’ll come back later and work on that.) Just trying out the vintage look.

Peek-a-Boo

One thing long curtains are good for is playing peek-a-boo.

Although originally a bit blurry, I actually like the effect it has on the image and in post-processing, increased the noise as well as turn the picture black-and-white.
