About Hogues and Kisses

“Sometimes I do get to places just when God’s ready to have somebody click the shutter.” ~ Ansel Adams

Howdy! Welcome to our photoblog!

In 2007, we got a Fujifilm FinePix to replace our dying Kodak camera. I’ve always been known to be “camera happy,” and I have hundreds of printed photographs to prove it. But I had never owned anything other than a point-and-shoot camera. The Fujifilm with its manual controls allowed me to venture into the world of photography and learn more about light, aperture, etc. I was hooked.

Yep… all of the photos you see on this blog up to September 2012 are shot with a point-and-shoot. Granted, a “high-end” point-and-shoot but still, I had equipment limitations that I had to overcome. And that’s why I developed this photoblog: to challenge myself to become a better photographer despite any camera limitations. After pining for a Nikon D90 DSLR camera for 3 years, I finally have “settled” for the entry-level Nikon D3100 DSLR camera. Hopefully you will see the quality of my photography continue to improve with the D3100.

Although most of my subject matter will be my family, I also hope to bring God’s beautiful creations to life here on this blog. I hope you come along for the journey.
